About Me…

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY34366) in the state of California who provides individual psychotherapy to adults. In addition to working in private practice, I work as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, where I provide psychotherapy to patients, supervise trainees, and conduct research on the use of virtual reality in the treatment of mental health disorders.

Clinical Role

In my clinical role at Stanford, I see Stanford student athletes, medical interns, residents, fellows, and attendings, as well as individuals within the greater community who struggle with anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, relationship difficulties, trauma symptoms, OCD, perfectionism, and/or body image concerns. I also use virtual reality as an enhancement to evidence-based treatment modalities when clinically appropriate and desired by the client.

Education and Training

I earned my doctoral degree from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium in 2022, where I won the award for Outstanding Overall Student (2021). I completed my clinical psychology doctoral internship at the Sepulveda VA in Los Angeles followed by my postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University School of Medicine in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Virtual Reality Research and Consulting

I began my VR work in 2017 after joining Dr. Kim Bullock’s Virtual Reality and Immersive Technology Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford School of Medicine. For my doctoral dissertation, I designed a feasibility study and three-arm pilot randomized controlled trial to examine the feasibility of using a VR headset as a way to administer behavioral activation therapy for adults with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder and won the Cheryl Koopman Dissertation of the Year Award. I expanded on this research during my postdoctoral fellowship by incorporating a more immersive VR headset in a second randomized controlled trial. I presented my research findings as a speaker at Shift Medical 2021: Virtual Medical XR Congress and Expo (2021), Stanford Psychiatry Grand Rounds (2022), IVRHA’s 7th Annual Virtual Reality and Healthcare Global Symposium (2023), VMed23 (2023, 2024), ADAA Conference (2023), and CYPSY26: 26th Annual Cyberpsychology, Cybertherapy and Social Networking Conference. I serve as a VR-consultant for other academic institutions, VR companies, and local Bay Area startups.
